“Teledentistry” means a dentist’s, dental hygienist’s or dental therapist’s use of electronic information, imaging and communication technologies, including interactive audio, video and data communications as well as store-and-forward technologies, to provide and support dental health care delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of dental data. and education.”
The ATDA would like to thank Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino, Representative Candie Sweetser and the entire legislature for continuing to advocate for their voters and rallying overwhelming support for teledentistry, by extending access to oral care for all New Mexicans. We would also like to acknowledge Dr. Tom Schripsema, Executive Director of the New Mexico Dental Association, who partnered with the ATDA in crafting the language of this legislation.
The ATDA looks forward to continuing to work with the New Mexico dental community in the hopes that teledentistry can become a viable reality for the rural, underserved population in the state.
